テイラー・スウィフト最新アルバムより「Father Figure」を意訳＆分析。
テイラー・スウィフト12枚目のフルアルバム「The Life of a Showgirl」が10月3日（金）にリリースされた。
今回はアルバムの中から3曲目「Father Figure」（ファザー・フィギュア）に注目し、意訳・分析してみる。

I saw potential
「ああ、若い頃の私を思い出すよ」私はポテンシャルを見出した
テイラーはこの楽曲によって有害な男性権力者を巧みに描いた。グルーミングによって若者を手なずけ、有毒な“優しさ”“父性”で恩を売り、夢を見させる。しかし彼が自分のもとを去るとなれば、途端に裏切り者扱いで失脚させる。結局“無償の優しさ”などなかったのだ。
“調子に乗った若者”に制裁を加えた後、最後の反復があることで、また新たな“子ども”という犠牲者が見つかったことを示しているのだろう。エンタメ業界では、権力者が若者を搾取し、使い捨てにすることなど当たり前。そうテイラーはこの楽曲で訴えているのだろう。
